The fashion label Evisu was founded in 1991 by Hidehiko Yamane. His experiences as a tailor and his dissatisfaction with the jeans models on the market inspired him to bring his favourite vintage-look jeans onto the Japanese market - and Evisu was born. Yamane wanted vintage style jeans produced traditionally to keep them as authentic as possible - a philosophy which still very much characterises Evisu. This all means that practically antique machinery is still being used to produce them today.
