When buying a new pair, what’s the ‘thing’ you look for first?

I’m a comfort girlie. I’m 5ft10. I’m not a sample size. So when I’m buying into a boot, I’m like: ‘How does it make me feel?’ I’m looking for a boot that feels sturdy, has a good heel [and is] a good investment piece.

What’s the biggest mistake you’ve made when buying winter boots?

The biggest mistake I’ve made is not buying a boot that actually fits. You’ve got to buy what works for you.

When you’re dressing for winter, it’s kind of boring sometimes. The main way you can show your personality [via your outfit] is through a boot.

I love the idea of the boot being the first thing that you notice. It is the ‘first impression’ when it comes to winter looks. So, how do we take care of patent leather? How do we make it last?

Don’t wear it every single week. Wear it a couple of times, kiss it goodbye and put some tissue in it [to help the boot keep its shape].

Zips or laces?

Zips. I need my life to be soft and straightforward.

Look two: Cowboy boots

How do you wear cowboy boots in the winter?

You need to lean into it. You need to give me some double denim. Put a little fur over it as well. Just give me some Western vibes, you know? A classic trench — everyone always has that in the wardrobe — and a classic midi dress. But then these [boots], they do the talking.

Are we doing pointy [toe]? Are we doing round or are we doing square?

As creators we do so many things. You go into a shoot, then you have a meeting, then you have a party after. I need my round-toe and my square-toe. These Steve Maddens give: ‘I have nothing to do today. I just wanna look cute.’

Three inch is perfect because you’re not too tall, but you’re still a bit tall.
