She has a love for corsets, silks, embellishments, and body-hugging skirts — looks that are synonymous with that particular era. However, despite Bahsoon’s sassy online attitude, she admits receiving attention was something she had to overcome actively. Moving away from her home in Malaysia to the UK for her University studies (with dreams of becoming a model), she began posting on TikTok to get comfortable with the idea of seeing herself online and being in front of millions of people.

It’s only been a few years since she decided to face her fears head-on, but it’s already paying off. This year she’s signed with IMG, attended exclusive fashion parties, and celebrity guest appearances on her TikTok account have all become the norm. Even during our conversation, this proved true: Bahsoon had been awaiting confirmation to make a new Tube Girl video with a particular famous musician, gushing humbly, “I don’t care if we don’t end up making a video, I’m just happy to be going to the concert.”

Music plays a central role in her life and artists like The Weeknd, Charli XCX, Timberland, and Nicki Minaj — all the bangers to get you hyped up — take a spot on her party playlist with one artist currently playing on repeat. Flashing her famous wide smile, she says, “Nelly Furtado, of course.”

Her answer — as she quickly reveals — comes off the top of her recent visit to New York Fashion Week, which involved a personal invitation from the pop icon to attend her album release party. “It was probably the most memorable party I’ve ever been to…I’m still recovering,” laughs Bahsoon.

Indeed, “Maneater” and “Promiscuous Girl” were played at the release party, and for the biggest night out of Bahsoon‘s life, “leather mini dress, knee-high boots, and stockings” was the look that joined history. “It’s a very classic ‘me’ look,” she explains. And very “Maneater” if you ask us.

For Bahsoon, clothes are a self-expression tool and outfit curating is something she always reserves time for — no matter what. “I’m not going to lie,” she grins. “I’m not someone that can just throw on a t-shirt and go out.” Bahsoon’s right, if there’s a dress code, you might as well take it seriously. “Match the vibe,” she advises, but leave room to “own your individuality.”

Her personal touch always makes her outfit feel truly her own. “I have a specific collection of accessories — belts, earrings, rings that were passed down to me. It’s my way of personalising anything I wear,” she explains. Adding a personal twist to make your party outfit stand out is something we can vouch for, but we wonder if she’s ever worried about wearing the same outfit as someone else at a party. “No,” says Bahsoon before elaborating, “I love matching with my friends. The more you match, the cuter.” However, she confesses she has one fear: “I’ve never felt worse than feeling underdressed.”

With the increasing exclusive invitations, Bahsoon’s sentimental personalisation sounds appropriately time-efficient to elevate her go-to party look: “I love dark colours, especially black, and tight-fitting clothes that give off menacing energy.” That menacing energy, she continues, is “so no one sketchy approaches me and I can just have fun with my girls.”

Despite the ‘Tube Girl’ fame, having fun with close friends is Bahsoon’s top priority. Her dream party would be Charli XCX performing, all her closest friends from Malaysia in attendance, and the theme — “there has to be a theme!” — would be Moulin Rouge. And the one accessory everyone would be wearing: “Big sunglasses. Because it makes everyone feel more confident.”

Though Bahsoon loves to match “Bella Hadid in Dilara Fındıkoğlu for the 2022 Met Gala after-party” look and energy as much as possible, above all, comfort is key. “I love to dance, I’m always on the dance floor, so boots or heels have to be something I can manage all night in,” she says. Pockets are handy too, so you’re not holding your phone in your hand all night while dancing and be prepared for wardrobe malfunctions. “I always have tape on me and a couple of safety pins, always.”

For smaller, intimate events, comfort takes the form of denim paired with a corset or sequined top that accentuates the waist. Otherwise, “show off my legs,” she laughs. Or the confidence boost from a skirt-and-boots combo mentally comforts her while feeling covered up just enough “with not too much falling out when I’m moving.”
