Who would’ve known that my 15 minutes of fame would be thanks to a bag that looks like a freshly baked baguette?

If you’re somewhat versed in fashion, you’ll know that Moschino knows how to have fun. After all, they sent Charlotte Free down the runway on roller skates, the Moschino ‘M’ was transformed into the ubiquitous McDonald’s golden arches, and past collections have paid homage to childhood icons like Spongebob Squarepants, Care Bears to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (cue ‘Be Our Guest’). Moschino isn’t a brand that’s centred around virality — I mean, “viral” was something only your doctor would say back when Moschino was incorporating Roy Lichtenstein prints on tailoring, getting sued by Chanel for tuning TVs to Channel No. 5 and printing “too much irony” on shirts — but what comes down the runway season after season definitely lends itself to rapid, joyful, circulation.

This time, its Baguette bag has caught our attention. Looking freshly baked and delicious, we wanted to know: Can one really take the Baguette bag out of the world of fashion fantasies and into real places? Can it fit all my stuff? First impressions

Looks like: A baguette, for real.

Feels like: A baguette!!! It has weight, and the way they’ve matched the textural details of a real baguette is impressive.

Hype potential: Ooh, it’s high. Again, the details are hard to pass by. The printing creates 3D-like depth, making for a crisp crust-like finish. I mean, just look at it! It actually looks delicious — add some hummus, and don’t mind if I do!

On the road

What I wore it with: I tried it on with a couple of different outfits to make sure the cute vibe isn’t accidental. Surprisingly, it matched a lot of different looks. The way you’re forced to casually clutch it under your arm like a Sunday morning loaf truly gives it a low-key but luxe feeling.

How it made me feel: Old-school Parisian-chic. Think Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve — just casually strolling through the Sunday market looking for a slab of that good good raw milk butter.

Would be perfect for: Arriving at a picnic where you forgot to bring snacks.

Could double as: Your perfect wingman. For anyone who doesn’t have a cute dog to start conversations, this is the perfect sub (pun intended).
