What is Diane von Furstenberg?

The DvF brand was founded in 1972 in New York by a woman named Diane von Furstenberg. The DvF label offers a complete collection of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories, including shoes, bags, and jewellery. After 50 years in business, Diane has established herself as a leader in the fashion industry. Her models appear regularly on the front covers of Vogue.

DvF's flagship store and headquarters is in New York's Meatpacking District, this is where most of the big calls are made but the brand has also developed a global distribution network in more than 100 countries in Europe, the Middle East, North and South America, as well as the Asian Pacific market.

In 1976, Diane made the cover of Newsweek with a feature film in which she was dubbed "the most marketable woman in fashion after Coco Chanel". Known for her iconic midi wrap dress, Diane has transformed the DvF brand into a bold and creative leader in the fashion industry, offering a variety of ready-to-wear and accessory collections. The wrap dress is now included in the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.

In 2010, Diane created the DVF Awards with the Diller von Furstenberg Family Foundation, which she runs with her husband, media mogul Barry Diller, to honour and provide grants to women who have demonstrated leadership, strength, and courage in their commitment to their causes. The DvF has honoured several illustrious women with many being actors and musicians.
