One of the world's most popular swimwear labels, international brand Speedo®, began life back in 1914 under the name of "Fortitude". The brand's founder, Alexander MacRae, migrated to Australia in 1910 and set up an eponymous underwear label. As a nod to the growing beach culture Down Under, the entrepreneurial Scotsman began to test the waters of the swimwear market and it was the development of the classic, figure-hugging "Racerback" swimming costume that really brought attention to the brand. Team member Captain Parsons coined the phrase "Speed on in your Speedos" in 1928 and just like that the Speedo® name was born. The brand continue to experiment with new and innovative technologies to make first class sports apparel. Now a household name around the world and endorsed by some of the best in the pool, no serious swimmer should be without their Speedos.
