Schott has been making original American jackets since 1913 and the label’s legacy is strongly bound to the history of America. Two boys from the Lower East Side of Manhattan began creating raincoats in their cellar in 1913, which they then sold door to door. Irving and Jack Schott were the first people to create raincoats with zips and this revolution made them incredibly popular in New York and in the 1920s they became popular among the increasingly large American motorcycle community. Then Schott coats became part of the uniform of WW2 American troops. In the 1950s, Hollywood stars like James Dean and Marlon Brando could be seen in their Schott jackets and even today, their hard-wearing coats are popular among actors, rockstars and stuntmen. Schott is also one of the few American labels to solely produce their designs in the USA – in an old brick building in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the label still makes jackets and coats as American as apple pie.
