Zalando presents their first fashion concept car in Geneva
Berlin, 5th March 2013. Zalando is presenting its first fashion concept car at the 83rd International Motor Show in Geneva. It embodies the online shop’s vision for the future of mobile commerce with its range of mobile shopping functions. Christain Meermann, CMO at Zalando, and Johanna Klum from German TV channel Pro7 introduced the car of the future, which will be displayed at the show in Geneva until the 17th March.
The Zalando fashion concept car takes mobile shopping to the next level: spot, identify, order, pick up. Using an augmented reality app especially designed for Zalando, outfits discovered on the streets are recognised by the iPad camera and can be ordered directly from the Zalando online shop. The package is delivered automatically to the integrated package station in the boot using GPS. The outfits can then be tried on in the mobile changing rooms and the Fashion Box has plenty of room for your favourite outfits.
‘As an innovative eCommerce company, mobile commerce is not just a thing of the future for us - our Zalando app already enables customers to place orders from their smartphones. With our fashion concept car, we are going one step further and expressing our vision of mobile shopping development over the next 5 years, when customers can place orders from their car as easily as from their sofa using their iPad,’ explained Christian Meermann, Chief Marketing Officer at Zalando.
Meermann describes the motivation behind the Zalando fashion concept car as ‘the constant search for the perfect shopping experience. Our services already make us a forerunner in this field but we believe the Zalando fashion car also fulfills the needs of the customer of tomorrow. We focused on time, which plays a huge role in today’s hectic society, but also on the fun and playfulness we like to involve in digital shopping and on continued transparency in our offers and prices.’
The Zalando fashion car was designed and built by the well known Swiss concept car creators Rinspeed. ‘The future is our focus and we believe mobile shopping is a part of this. Through connectivity and innovative technology, what is impossible today will soon be possible,’ stated Rinspeed CEO Frank M Rinderknecht.
The especially created app was developed by worldwide augmented reality experts Wikitude. ‘We were really happy when Zalando approached us with their vision and this innovative concept,’ said Andy Gstoll, CMO at Wikitude. ‘The combination of mobility, connectivity and augmented reality has the potential to change our shopping behavior.’
The Zalando fashion car is supported by www.fameworxx.com, the first specialised agency for viral new media, online reputation and lifestyle management. If you would like any more information, just get in touch on +49-30 200 088 585.
