Johnny Schilereff, the founder of Element, received his first skateboard as a present from his sister when he was five years old, and that’s the moment when it all started – Johnny spent all his free time with his little skateboard and skating became an important part of his life. Making the step to create his own skater brand wasn’t far away, and in 1992 Underworld Element was founded in Atlanta - the foundation for Element. Johnny had, at this point, been interested in various form of youth culture and so Element was made into the casual brand for boys and girls with boards. It doesn’t matter if you’re a nosegrinder or a frontsider, a musician or artist – Element is the brand of the journey, the brand where every member of the Element family is on the path to personal development and takes both oneself and the brand further with creativity, ideas and visions. That’s why there’s only one rule at Element and it’s kept short and sweet: let your thoughts run free and do what makes you happy!
