The family-owned fashion label Brutus was founded in 1966 by brothers Keith and Alan Freedman. The label began with one jumper in its collection, developing to design t-shirts, shirts, knitwear and denim clothing collections for men. Thanks to its award winning advertising campaigns, by the likes of David Bailey and Saatchi and Saatchi, the Brutus label soon became a household name. One particularly famous campaign that gripped the nation was their advert for figure-hugging jeans, in which David Dundas famously sang "I pull my Brutus jeans on". The brand was taken over by Keith's son Jonathan Freedman, who noticed that the Brutus "Trimfit" shirt had a cult following with guys across the globe, meaning that this classic British brand is now being introduced to the next generation, whilst simultaneously appealing to those who remember the original collections! Born and bred in East London, the brand name comes from the aftershave, "Brut", that Keith and Alan both wore, coupled with the word "us" to create the Brutus name! Although keen to revamp the brand, Jonathan Freedman made sure that every detail remained the same as the original design work, to such an extent that they returned to the original factory in Hong Kong to recreate the "Trimfit" Brutus shirt!
