Adidas Performance is one of the most famous and popular sports brands in the world. Yet it began with Adolf "Adi" Dassler making his own shoes in his mother's kitchen, forming the business which was to later evolve into Adidas Performance together with his brother Rudolf. Success came quickly as shoes made by the brothers were worn by US sprinter Jesse Owens in the 1936 Olympics, shooting the business to further fame when Owens took home 4 gold medals. However problems arose between the two and in 1947 Rudolf left the business to set up his own brand of Puma shoes, while Adi officially named his brand Adidas. Yet despite these early difficulties, the brand went from strength to strength and is now known worldwide, with Adidas Performance providing excellent sports shoes and clothes for a range of different activities.
